Andrea Charles started her career in NYC as a makeup artist, enhancing the faces of entertainment personalities such as Star Jones, Gabriel Union, Tyra Banks, Sean Combs, Bill Cosby, Tanika Ray and Demi Moore. Her portfolio also includes credits from CBS, BET, Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
In 2009, Ms. Charles started to produce beauty themed events at NYC’s W-Hotel for causes related to women and children such as HIV, Diabetes and AIDS. She also funded and hosted several book and toy drives, donating funds and proceeds to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Juvenile Diabetes Research and American Diabetes Association.
After a few years of planning, Ms. Charles took her philanthropy to a higher level and combine her city girl lifestyle, passion for makeup artistry, and commitment to making a difference. In 2010, City Girl Beauty Project emerged: a not-for profit organization whose mission is to empower young women ages 18-30 who struggle with uncertainty and low self worth as they transition into a life after domestic violence and human trafficking.
